Bio

Few voices resonate deeper and more authentic than LINA_.

LINA_ started singing at the age of 10 at the Círculo Portuense de Ópera. Studied at the Porto Music Conservatory. Passionate about fado houses. Recorded the fado albums “Carolina” and “EnCantado”, signed as Carolina, and published by Sony Music.

Always in love with Amália’s work, Lina proved to be one of her best interpreters. In the Lina_Raül Refree project her voice crossed paths with the art of the award-winning Catalan producer.

A resident performer at Clube de Fado, over the last few years, Lina_ refined the drama that fado demands, in its natural “habitat”, but with the inventiveness that only true artists can achieve.

This inventiveness, in the case of the album shared by Raül Refree, earned numerous distinctions and nominations for awards from the press and international institutions: nomination for the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards, victory in the Preis Der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, the trophy of German music critics passing, among many others, the COUP DE COEUR 2020 awarded by the Prix de L’Académie Charles Cros.

These distinctions were also confirmed on international reference stages, in an extensive tour that also drew applause from audiences at the Fondation Cartier, the Mitsubishi Electric Hall, the Eurosonic and La Mar de Músicas Festivals, among many others.

Now, she returns, even more powerful, not only in her unmistakable voice, but also as a composer, in the company of British producer and musician Justin Adams, a well-known British musician, composer and producer, an accomplice of Robert Plant and his band, and production of albums for Robert Plant, Rachid Taha, Tinariwen, Jah Wooble or more recently with Souad Massi, in addition to collaborations with Brian Eno, Sinead O’ Connor and several Arab and African musicians, as happened with the musician Juldeh Camara from The Gambia.

Gathered around Camões’ poetry with a renewed sound, where the center is still and always is her vocal expressiveness, sensorial, throbbing, full of life to touch us. LINA_ is preparing to release her new work, an album that, as you will hear, places Camões’ poetry in scenarios of melancholy and suspension, but also of celebration of existence, to be released in January 2024 by Galileo Music.
